A new mom gift basket with treats just for her. Whether it is her first baby or her third, put together a few of her favorite things to make her feel special and help recover after labor.
After a new baby arrives many people bring gifts for the new baby and maybe flowers for mom. Nothing wrong with those gifts, but what about mom? After all, she’s done a lot of hard work and feeling exhausted. I have been lucky to have friends that have brought me care packages loaded with my favorite things after my two boys. Here’s what I put in a recent new mom gift basket and a few other ideas of things she may like.
New Mom Gift Basket Tips
First, choose the container. You can choose a basket or even a travel makeup bag. I had a friend give me a cute makeup bag filled with things from Target and she made coupons that said things like “Good for one hour of babysitting” or “Good for dinner on us.” If you want to include coupons, Our Home on Purpose blog has some nice printable coupons.
Next, choose your items to fill up the basket (see more ideas below). Just keep in mind the size of the “container” so you have an idea of how many items it will take to fill up the basket/bag.
Finally, gift wrap. Ok normally I wouldn’t include anything for the baby but for this one I used some baby cloths instead of tissue paper. It was nice to include something that they will use instead of gift tissue paper. I also used cellophane to wrap the entire basket and added a pretty bow. It can be as simple or as decorative as you like.
What to Put in a New Mom Gift Basket
Here is what I included in the new mom gift basket as well as other ideas of what to include. I love to personalize each basket with things that the mom loves. If she loves a certain candy, make sure it goes in there. I think it says a lot when you know little things about people and what they love.
- Chocolate
- Candy
- Granola bars (oats are good if she is breastfeeding)
- Blue sports drink (supposedly also good if you are breastfeeding)
- Cute water bottle
- Snacks, nut mixes or something with protein
- Lotion
- Lip balm
- Tissues
- Hand sanitizer
- Magazine or book
- Nursing pads
- Lanolin
- Witches hazel
- Granny panties
- Pads
- Robe
- Slippers
- Thick socks
- Hair ties
- Disposable toothbrush
- Cute nail polish or lip gloss
- Soft blanket
- Sleeping mask
Arrange these items in your basket and then you have an easy DIY gift that she will surely love. Have you received a new mom gift basket? What would you add to the list?
